Nalgonda: Nalgonda Town-II police on Wednesday arrested an inter-State thief and recovered 25 tolas of gold ornaments worth Rs 8 lakh from his possession.
The arrested was identified as Dasari Vijay(26), resident of Ponnaram village of mandamarri mandal in Macherial district.
Presenting the arrested at a media conference held in Nalgonda town-II police station, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nalgonda Venkateshwarlu said that the police took Vijay into the custody on suspicion during vehicle check up at Pangal by-pass road on early hours of Wednesday.
During the interrogation, the accused confessed that he has committed thefts at Nalgonda, Kodad and Miryalaguda in Telangana and at Gudur, Reniguntla, Cherala and Ongole in Andhra Pradesh State. He had mortgaged the stolen gold ornaments with Mannoram Finance branches at Macharla and Narsaraopeta to make money, which he spent on leading a luxuries life. The gold ornaments mortgaged with the finance company were also recovered, he added. Nalgonda Town-II Sub-Inspector Narsimhulu and others were also present.
