JAMMU, Nov 19: Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) will launch a Jail bharo movement in all the colleges if the pending demands are not redressed.
This was stated by State Secretary ABVP Deepak Gupta while interacting with media persons here today. City Secretary Jammu Mahanagar Parteek Raina and City Girl ABVP activist Sumedha Arora were also present during the press conference.
Jammu and Kashmir is going through a transition phase and the Government must focus on the education sector, Gupta said, adding that ABVP has submitted its 44 point memorandum to the administration and has demanded action on these demands but the students voice is being suppressed by the administration using batons.
He said that more than 10000 vacant posts are there in secondary and higher education sector for which the Government has not framed any policy to fill them up, adding that these vacant posts must be filled as soon as possible.
He added that more than 1428 Government education institutes are being run in rented accommodation to which the Government has to pay huge amounts as rent which must be stopped immediately and Government must build its own buildings.
He said that it is indeed a welcoming step to start 53 new Colleges but the Government has failed to establish these colleges in the Government official records as there are no permanent posts being created for the colleges, no separate budget allocation for each college, no buildings and no approval from the Finance Department.
These colleges are for the sake of name only and the Government must create a permanent provision in the budget for these newly established colleges and create new posts for professor and clerical staff as well in these colleges, he added.
There must be a check over private schools and colleges, which are charging exorbitant fees and Cluster University should be shifted to far flung area for the benefit of the students living in far flung areas, he said.
An independent level enquiry should be conducted against JKPSC for making appointments in the past 5 years, he demanded.
