Considered India’s next big hope, Anshu lost the 59kg bronze medal bout by technical superiority.
'On a disappointing day for India at the Junior World Championship, the country’s female wrestlers endured a medal-less outing with the talented Anshu Malik getting losing out in the fight for bronze against Ukraine’s Kateryna Zelenykh in the Estonian city of Tallinn on Thursday. Considered India’s next big hope, Anshu lost the 59kg bout by technical superiority, unable to find a way to handle Kateryna’s superb counter-attacking moves. It was Anshu who opened up a two-point lead with a takedown but after that, it was one-way traffic in favour of the Ukrainian. The Ukrainian levelled the score with a right leg attack that led to a two-point move. She remained strong throughout with Anshu hardly getting time to employ her moves as she was kept busy in defending. In the second period, it was complete dominance by Kateryna, who rattled the Indian with a four-point move and then finished the contest with back-to-back gut wrenches. With more than 90 seconds left, Anshu was outplayed. In the 57kg, Bharti Bhagel won her first two bouts by technical superiority to make it to the semi-finals, beating Canada’s Jolie Donna Elizabeth Brisco (12-2) and Belarus’ Viktoryia Volk (11-0). But she lost her semi-final by fall to Japan’s Akie Hana. She will now fight for bronze against the winner of.. Read more'

Haroon Abid, the great-grandson of Imam Baksh, is the first wrestler from the family in 28 years.
'The 97 kg repechage bout at the junior world championships in Tallinn ended in two minutes. Akash Antil of India pinned Haroon Abid of Pakistan to move into the next round. Given it was an India-Pakistan bout, both wrestlers wanted to win. But it turned out to be one-sided as Antil reached the bronze medal play-off with ease. “I don’t think win on loss matters this time. Ye pehli daffa hai ki family se koi bina tagda hue khushti lad raha hai. Humne to kabhi socha hi nahi tha fir se wrestling hogi family mein. (This is the first time a someone from our family isn’t a mature wrestler and competing. We did not even think that our family will pick up wrestling again.),” Abid Aslam, Haroon’s father, says. Abid is right for this is no ordinary family of wrestlers. Perhaps one can say it the wrestling family of the subcontinent. Abid is the grandson of Imam Baksh, brother of the Gulam Mohammed. The Dana White and Cyborg controversies have been there since the beginning. But all of it came to an end when UFC president Dana White released Cyborg from her UFC contract.
'The Dana White and Cyborg controversies have been there since the beginning. But all of it came to an end when UFC president Dana White released Cyborg from her UFC contract. And in his recent interview, Dana White openly criticized Cyborg for the edited video she and her management put in her social media accounts to make Dana White look guilty in the whole scenario.Dana White expresses his frustration with the whole Cyborg situation and said that dealing with Cyborg from the beginning has been a bad experience. He said “We brought her in after she tested positive for steroids. We made her a clean athlete with the best drug testing policies. And nothing is better for her brand and legacy, knowing that she is a clean athlete after testing positive for steroids and all the negativity that surrounded her about being a dirty athlete.” Dana White also said that Cyborg always complained, she was a nightmare to deal with, and she never wanted to fight Amanda Nunes.Dana White reportedly said that it is obvious who the best female fighter at 135 and 145 division is and it’s Amanda Nunes.According to him, Cyborg was offered to fight Nunes many times, but she always avoided to fight Amanda and instead wanted to fight other fighters. And Cyborg was also offered the rematch against Nunes, but she didn’ take the deal.On the release of Cyborg, Dana White seemed not bothered at all saying, “Cyborg leaving doesn’t matter. We know who the best fighter in the world is.If I am lying, she calls tomorrow and we will make that fight. But she will not call tomorrow and that fight will not be made.Because Cyborg doesn’t want to fight.Amanda Nunes will knock her out again on the first round. We all know that.” Dana White disagreed with fighters before such as Mark Hunt, Tito Ortiz, and Ben Askren. But his disagreement with Cyborg has been never-ending, and probably it’s better for both parties that UFC and Cyborg are parting ways right now.Dana White also blamed Cyborg’s management for not dealing with the situation properly. After getting released from UFC , Cyborg has few other options such as Bellator, Invicta or even WWE.Reportedly Bellator’s president Scott Cooker has shown interest in signing Cyborg. It would be interesting to see what Cyborg decides to do with her career in the future. . 'Tony Ferguson is the type of guy who has the longest winning streak in the history of UFC lightweight division and still does not get the title shot. The last time Tony Ferguson lost a match, Anderson Silva and GSP were still champions, and there was no women’s division in UFC.Tony Ferguson has been on a path of terror and demolition for years now but still has not been able to capture the undisputed gold. But let’s talk about how a Tony VS Khabib Nurmagomedov fight would play out if these two face each other inside the octagon. They say Khabib is the most dominating fighter in the lightweight division, let’s put that theory to the test.Who has Khabib beaten since he has been in UFC?Rafael Dos Anjos, Edson Barboza, Al Iaquinta, and Conor Mcgregor comes into the mind.Well, That seems impressive. But is it though?Tony Ferguson has also beaten Rafael Dos Anjos and Edson Barboza. He won his last fight cause his opponent Donald Cerrone, who has the most wins in UFC history and who defeated Al Iaquinta, whom Khabib fought for the title because Donald was not allowed to able to complete after the second round. And the list of victims for Tony Fergusons’s wrath goes on.The Boogeyman of the lightweight has defeated a former champion named Anthony Pettis and one of the most talented young athletes in UFC , Kevin Lee.If you see the body of work Tony Ferguson has done, it’s hard to say that he is not the guy to beat Khabib. How would the fight go if these two killers face each other in the octagon?Khabib is one of the best wrestlers in UFC history. His wrestling is multiple levels above all other fighters in the lightweight division. He might even be able to take most of the welterweights down to the mat and dominate them. And he is arguably the biggest attraction in UFC right now, after his win against Conor and the post-fight brawl at UFC 229.His cardio is second to none and he will just put an overwhelming pace on his opponents. And his boxing has been improving in each fight. With all those weapons in his arsenal, how do you beat this guy?No fighters have figured this Rubik cube named Khabib yet, as he sets to defend his title against the interim champion Dustin Poirier. But the former interim lightweight champion might be the answer to Khabib Nurmagomedov.Tony Ferguson might be the guy who can push Khabib to the extreme level and he might be able to beat him too.Tony Ferguson has an unbelievable gas tank.He is the terminator of UFC for sure who just keeps coming at his opponents with punches, elbows, and knees. He is phenomenal on the ground and very comfortable to take the fight to the ground and finish his opponent as he did to Kevin Lee, submitting him after Kevin punished Tony for the first two rounds.Agreed he gets hit a lot, but he doesn’t stop and far better striker than Khabib such as Anthony Pettis, Kevin Lee, RDA, Donald Cerrone has tried to trade punches with Tony but none of them was able to deal with the pressure of Tony Ferguson.Sure Khabib can take Tony Ferguson down. It’s a foregone conclusion that if you are fighting Khabib in one round or the other, you are going down. But can Khabib keep Tony on the ground for a meaningful period to do enough damage?Tony is so dynamic that he can even hurt Khabib Nurmagomedov with knees and punches from the bottom or he might be able to submit him.But when it comes to a fight, we must always remember one thing. The fight starts on the feet.So Tony will be coming out of the gate intending to hurt Khabib badly with strikes. There are so many ways this super fight could play out. Both of these fighters are two of the very best fighter in UFC and both have the potential to beat each other. irrespective of the outcome, this fight needs to happen to determine who the baddest lightweight in UFC is.Let us know what do you think will happen in a fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony. . 'UFC 189, Conor McGregor beats Chad Mendes to become the interim featherweight champion, and with that, the Irish invasion started in UFC.Conor would go on to beat the featherweight legend, Jose Aldo to unify the belt, and it was just the beginning of the greatness.Conor becomes the first Double champion in UFC by beating the underground king, Eddie Alvarez in UFC 205 and single-handedly made UFC more popular than UFC was ever before. But after his devastating loss in UFC 229 against the undefeated eagle from Dagestan, Khabib Nurmagomedov , the path ahead of Conor is not clear yet. After his suspension due to the brawl at UFC 229 was over, Conor has tried to pick up fights with many fighters such as Anderson Silva, Donald Cerrone, but has not been able to step into the octagon yet. There have been talks of a super fight between Conor McGregor and GSP, but GSP is retired, and he is more interested in the fight with Khabib which would cement his legacy as the greatest to ever do it.So what options do Conor have right now?Whom shall he fight?Conor McGregor is the biggest draw in UFC without any doubt. So it would be insane if he fights someone who is ranked way below in the rankings and not a big name as Conor is.So Conor McGregor needs the spotlight, and he needs to be in the main event of a big card against a big name from the roster. Now it is not fair to the other fighters in the division, but unfortunately, that’s how the fight business seems to work.In the lightweight division, there are a couple of fascinating fights for Conor Mcgregor such as Tony Ferguson and Justin Gathje. But both of them will be a tough fight for Conor in which Conor might lose. But Conor needs a big win before his fans can rally for the rematch with Khabib, and UFC can make it happen.Khabib will fight Dustin in UFC 242. if Khabib wins then UFC is probably going to make Khabib VS Tony for the title. But if Khabib loses, then Tony might go-ahead to challenge Dustin for the title, and Conor can have the rematch he wants against Khabib.Title or not, Khabib VS Conor rematch will be a huge event for UFC.Now if we take a look at the list of super fights for Conor, Conor has a couple of options there too.Diaz VS McGregor 3 is always on the card. fans would surely tune in to watch the most notorious rivalry in UFC history, and it makes more sense than the Conor VS Khabib rematch at the moment since Khabib dominated Conor in the first fight.Other than Diaz, there is a new name on the list of super fights for Conor.Jorge Masvidal has been calling out for a meaningful period after his record-breaking knock out against Ben Askren. But Conor McGregor is yet to respond to Jorge, and also Dana White doesn’t seem interested in that fight since he thinks that Conor is too small in size to fight Jorge who is a welterweight. So who does Conor fight next?A lot will depend on the main event of UFC 242 when Khabib fights Dustin for the title. And we also need to keep an eye on the fight between Nate Diaz and Anthony Pettis. If Diaz wins that match, and he calls out Conor post-fight in front of a sold-out arena then Diaz VS Conor 3 is a big possibility since that’s how the rivalry started with a post-fight call out from Nate Diaz.So the subject of the matter is, Whomever UFC decides to put in front of Conor next, it’s going to be a super fight for sure. .
